Answer:
The French Wanted to restrict British influence along their border, French built several forts from Erie Lake to the forks of the Ohio (now known as Pittsburgh).
As French used rivers for transportation purpose , so rivers were important for them.
The Ohio is formed by joining of two Rivers Monongahela and Allegheny and it was the strategically important location, its the place where nations want to take control.
