Explanation:

2 x 2 + x - 4 = 0

4 + x - 4 = 0

+4 +4

8 0

8 + x = 0

8 8

x = 0

For the - 4 + 4 part, it cancels out because it's 0 and for the 8 divided by 8 part, it cancels out too. x is 0 because 0 divided by 8 is 0.
