When trying to figure out the tense consistency, it's consistant for a reason. The best way to tell is with key words, like; "yesterday" "today" and "tomorrow" are the most basic ones. Otherwise look for future phrases, like; "last" "previous" "next" "later" etc. Another thing to do is look for words that imply timing, like; "are" "were" "will" "have" "had" "did" "do" "went" "got" and a lot others. Find the phrasing too. If th sentence is, "We went to the store, and got some stuff for tomorrow." That is past, not future bc it's saying you did that earlier, and you did it for tomorrow. So really just study the context of stuff to see how a word can best fit in a sentence w/ the timing words, and elping verbs and adjectives.
