Coffee is sold in jars

There are 200g of coffee in each jar.

Ben makes 8 cups of coffee each day.
He thinks he uses 2g of coffee to make each cup of coffee.

Ben wants to buy enough coffee for 28 days.

a) If ben uses 2g of coffee for each cup, how much coffee, in grams , does he use in 28 days?

b) how many whole jars of coffee does Ben need to buy?

c) Ben finds that he uses 2.5g of coffee to make each cup of coffee.
How much coffee in grams does Ben actually use in 28 days?

d) how does this affect the number of jars of coffee he needs to buy?
Say whether he needs to buy more jars, or if the number of jars is unchanged.
You must give a reason for your answer.

Answer:

a. 448g

b. About 3 jars. (2.24 to be precise :) )

c. 560g

d. He still needs to buy 3 jars becuase 560 is less than 600, the product of 200 x 3j (j=jars), and 560/200 = 2.8, also less than 3.

Explanation:

a. 2 x 8 = 16(grams), 16 x 28 =448.

b. 448/200 equals 2.24, 2.24 is a higher number than 2(jars), so he woukd have to buy 3 to cover the other 0.24.

c. 2.5 x 8 = 20, 20 x 28 = 560.

d. (self explanitory)
