lysosome formationLysosomes form by budding off from the membrane of the trans-Golgi network. Macromolecules (i.e., food particles) are absorbed into the cell in vesicles formed by endocytosis. The vesicles fuse with lysosomes, which then break down the macromolecules using hydrolytic enzymes.
