x = 27

Explanation:

3x-4y = 65

Let y = 4

3x - 4*4 = 65

3x -16 = 65

Add 16 to each side

3x-16+16 = 65+16

3x = 81

Divide each side by 3

3x/3 = 81/3

x = 27
