First you distribute the 3 into x and to- 3x+6=12 then you subract 6 from 6 and from 12- 3x=6 x=2

Answer:

x = 2

Explanation:

Step 1: Write equation

3(x + 2) = 12

Step 2: Solve for x

  1. Distribute 3: 3x + 6 = 12
  2. Subtract 6 on both sides: 3x = 6
  3. Divide both sides by 3: x = 2

Step 3: Check

Plug in x to verify it's a solution.

3(2 + 2) = 12

3(4) = 12

12 = 12
