What is the main theme of the speech? One of the themes is the freedom for black Americans because, despite the differences and promises of the Declaration of Independence, black americans were continually denied freedom. The second theme is peaceful protest. Martin Luther King urges his audience not to resort to violence, even in the face of violence from their opposition. The last theme of this iconic speech is hope for the future. Martin Luther King expresses hope that one day, people will no longer be judged by their skin color but by the people they are inside. What is the speaker's argument or idea? Martin Luther King’s idea is the black Americans or colored people are still denied the same freedoms as all other Americans and he has faith that the future can be changed where all Americans can stand together as equals.

What reasons or evidence does the speaker use to support his or her argument or idea? The Declaration of Independence states that “that all mean are created equal”. Martin Luther King uses the Declaration of Independence as a reason to support his argument that all colored people should be treated as equals as well. Do you think the reasons/evidence successfully support the idea? Martin Luther King’s reason supporting his point of view created so much support that it changed the way people thought about the issue. The world world would not be the same with his speech. People finally heard the black community and started working toward change.

I found a speech about cats.

The main theme of the speech is that cats are great life-long companions and make the purrrfect pet. They are the best pet for many reasons and shouldn't get such a bad rep. The speaker's argument is that cats are better than dogs and make the best/ most awesome pet. The speaker uses many persuasive facts and ideas that could honestly change any person's mind. They say things like perhaps, the most important, This is a persuasive reason because, and other convincing words. One thing I like is how they never lied and it felt like they researched a lot. They made sure to be completely honest and here is the proof, "Although this is meant to persuade people to adopt a cat, I have to be realistic and honest. One anatomical aspect of the domestic cat that some people dislike and are often frightened of, claws! Dogs have claws too but they are blunt because they are worn down walking" (Michael Broad, 2015).

They discussed positive and negative aspects of having a cat, though they explained that for instance, cats' claws are sharp but most owners know how to deal with them. The reasons and evidence definitely support the idea because they compared cats to dogs on every topic. For instance, they talked about how cats have great hygiene and why, then they said on the contrast, dogs... Which shows that they are comparing cats to dogs which proves the argument. I think it was a great and well planned out speech where I wanted to continue reading every paragraph instead of skimming, and it was super fun to write about!
