m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)\\ m=(3-8)/(9-(-5))\\\\ m=(-5)/(9+5)\\\\ m=(-5)/(14)\\\\ m=-(5)/(14)\\

Therefore, the slope of the line is m = -5/14
