Directions: Use substitution to simplify the following;

Simplify the following if x = 3 & y = 4:

1. 2x + y =

2. 3x + 2y =

3. 3y + 2x =

4. 10x + 4y + 2x =

5. 6y + 5x =

6. 7x + 4y =

Use your knowledge about parentheses and substitution to solve the following:

q = 1; r = 2; s = 3; t = 4; x = 5; y = 6

7. 2(x+4) + 10 =

8. 3(4x) + 4 =

9. 10(xy) =

10. 2(x + y) =

11. 3(rs) + 4(x)

12. 2(q) + 2(x + t) =

13. 6(3t + 4s) =

14. 10(10x) + 10y =

15. x(xy) =

16. r(s)(t) =

17. (r)(s)(t)(x)(y) =

18. 6(2x + 3Y) =
