What is a "face cast"?

I have to draw this for my teacher today:
"Draw your face cast in heavy shadow. You may require a phone or mirror."

I don't know what a face cast is though.. any help?

Face casting is a technique used to create a replica of a person’s face. This task is usually carried out to create custom fit masks, SFX make-up prosthetics and is also used in the medical profession. If you would like to make you own face cast for the first time it is advised to have a professional present..
