Explanation:

There are multiple ways of solving for X and Y. You can solve by substitution, addition, or subtraction. I'm going to do solve by substitution.

Let's solve for y. Note that y won't be a numerical value but it will be used later trust me.

2x-y=10

-y=10-2x

y = 2x-10

Now we can use y (which is a placeholder) with 2x-10. You will notice that you can solve for x since y is now out of the equation.

4x+(2x-10)=8

6x-10=8

6x=18

x = 3

Now that we have a numerical value for 3, we can use it to find y.

y=2(3)-10 or 2x-y=10

y=-4

Note that you don't have to solve for y at the beginning; you can solve for either value first. Also, you can use either equation to plug in either x or y values.
