Towards the positive x axis;

The value at a distance of 5 from 0 = 5- 0 = 5

Towards the negative x axis;

The value at a distance of 5 from 0 = -5- 0 = -5

Hence the two values on a number line that are a distance of 5 from 0 are 5 and -5
