Diane serves breakfast to two groups of children at daycare. One box of Oaties contains 12 cups of cereal. She needs ⅓ cup for each younger child and ¾ cup for each older child. If there are 11 younger children and 10 older children, is one box of Oaties enough for all of the children? and we also gots to show the work.

Answer:

No there is not enough

Explanation:

there is 12 cups in the box.

1/3 cups for younger children. 11 younger children. Multiply 1/3 and 11. You will get 3.66666666667. You convert them into cups. Then you do the same for the older children. Finally, you add the number of cups. You get a number grater than twelve so there is not enough. Best of luck!!

Answer:

Explanation:

Total no. of Young childern=10

Total no. of bigger children=11

So According,

3/4 and 1/3 should be made comparable.

(By using LCM)

3/4*3/3 and 1/3*4/4

=9/12 and 4/12

So if we add them we get,

9+4/12

13/12 of a cup

NOW WE KNOW HOW MUCH IS NEEDED TO FEED 1 YOUNG AND 1 BIG CHILD.

ONE BOX OF OTIES HAS 12 CUPS.

NEEDED CUPS=13/12*10+3/4

130/12+3/4

130/12+9/12

139/12

=11.583

So we get that 12 cups of oaties are not fully need to feed the children

Thus, A box Oaties is sufficient
