The perimeter of a square is 40 inches. The length of each side of the square is 4x-2 inches what is the value of x?

X=3


Since there’s 4 sides and each side is 4x-2
We will multiply the length by 4 or add them up 4 times.

(4x-2)4= 16x-8=perimeter

So now that we have the perimeter in terms of x. We will set 40inches equal to 16x-8 and solve it as a normal equation.

40=16x-8
48=16x
48/16= X
X=3 inches
