Explanation:

|x-4|=6x+16 To find the absolute value :

x - 4 = 6x + 16 or x - 4 = -6x - 16 for first equation

x - 4 = 6x + 16 export like terms to the same side of the equation

-4 - 16 = 6x - x (The terms chages signs from negative to positive and from positive to negative when exported to the other sideof the equation)

-20 = 5x divide by 5

-4 = x

For the second equation

x - 4 = -6x - 16 export like terms to the same side of the equation

x + 6x = -16 + 4

7x = -12

x = 1.7 approximately
