Answer:

Explain what your experimental procedure would be in order to separate the parts of the mixture. Be specific, include step by step instructions. Include any lab equipment or materials you would use to complete each procedure. Draw a diagram to support your explanation if you want.

Answer:

magnetic- Iron Fillings

Sink in water- Sand

Dissolve in water- Salt

Float in water- Plastic Beads

Step-by-step explanation:

A general guiding principle that will determine what objects will sink or float in water is this; when the weight of an object is greater than the weight of an equal volume of water, that object is denser than water hence it will sink in water. Similarly, when the weight of an object is less than the weight of an equal volume of water ,then that object is less dense than water hence it will float in water. Thus sand sinks in water (more dense than water) while plastic beads float in water (less dense than water).

Iron fillings are attracted by magnets hence they are magnetic while salt dissolves freely in water since it is an ionic substance.
