Answer:

x = 1

Explanation:

first you distribute : 3(x + 1) -> 3x -2(x - 1) -> -2x + 2

next you combine like terms : 2 + 6 = 8

3x + 3 = -2x + 8

subtract 3 from both sides : 3x = -2x + 5

add 2x to both sides : 5x = 5

divide both sides by 5 and you get : x = 1
