Answer:

The reasons why paper clips, pencils, and tongue depressors are not used by carpenters when they are building house are due to the following;

1) The dimensions of a paper clip, or pencil, or tongue depressor may vary from place to place, and when a measurement is specified in paper clips, it could lead to a different dimension (maybe less) than what is needed by the carpenter

2) When the dimension that the carpenter is referring to, such as the size of a required nail, is only a small fraction of a paper clip, it will be difficult to get the correct size of nail from a supplier that uses only gauging by sight to measure the proportion of the paper clip

3) When there are errors in item supplied and used in the construction, there will be increased delay as well as cost to make corrections to the errors
