Given:

The perimeter of a square is 54cm.

To find:

The length of a diagonal, rounding to the nearest tenth.

Solution:

Let a be the length of each side of square.

We know that, perimeter of a square is

Perimeter = 4a

4a=54

Divide both sides by 4.

a=(54)/(4)

a=13.5

We know that, diagonal of a square is

d=√(2)a

d=(1.414)(13.5)

d=19.089

Rounding to the nearest tenth, we get

d\approx 19.1

Therefore, the length of diagonal is about 19.1 cm.
