Denotation- Literal or primary meaning of a word, in contrast to the feeling or ideas that the word suggests
(Ex: Dictionaries)

Connotation- An idea or feeling that a word invokes in addition to its literal or primary meaning
(Ex: Blue is a color, but it is also a word to describe how someone feels)
-Connotations can be positive, negative, or neutral
