Answer:

The equation representing his shopping scenario;

y = 250 - x

where; y = $50 and x = $200

Explanation:

let the cost of a pair of shoes = x

then, the cost of Hoodies, y = (¹/₄)x

The total cost of Andrew's shoes and hoodies should be equal to the amount he has to spend.

Total amount he has to spend = $250

x + y = $250

x + (¹/₄)x = 250

(4x + x)/(4) = 250\\\\ (5x)/(4) = 250\\\\5x = 1,000\\\\x = (1,000)/(5)\\\\x = \$ 200

the cost of Hoodies, y = (¹/₄)x

y = (¹/₄)($200)

y = $50
