One way the role of political leaders in Western Europe changed during the time period was that they gained more influence and momentum over time. Previously, the leaders of the church had the most influence and they were capable of giving out the most extreme and feared punishments of that time. They were very separate from the political leaders and they held the most power in that time. However, political leaders and nobles, such as dukes, knights and kings grew more powerful, which came along with a stronger relationship with the church. We can see that in the second picture, the Catholic Church leader and the Duke of Burgundy are having a peaceful and pleasant exchange, indicating their equivalence in power and influence, as well as their collaboration.

Taking APWH in Edge right now, so I have access to the images. However, I agree with the other person, in the future it would be a good idea to include the link to the images. :) Hope this is helpful to you!!
