Atul has 1/6 more pounds of candy than Maria. First you find a common denominator for 2/3 and 1/2, a common denominator would be 6.
2 x 2 = 4
3 x 2 = 6
1 x 3 = 3
2 x 3 = 6
4/6 - 3/6 = 1/6
