The Indo-Australian Plate (comprising India) and the Eurasian plate (comprising Asia) are both continental plates that are moving towards one another, sharing a continental-continental type of convergent plate boundary since the last 50 million years back. Due to this collision, the sandwich pattern formed, resulting in the formation of the large Himalayan mountain belt. The world's tallest peak named Mount Everest is located in this Himalayan mountain.
