Answer:

x length

y width

2x=y

2x+2y=42/2

x+y=21 x+y=21

x+2x=21

3x=21/÷3

x=7

7+y=21

y=21-7=14

7×14=98 the area of a rectangle

Answer: 98 ft²

Explanation:

Length (L) = 2w

width (w) = w

Perimeter (P) = 2L + 2w

42 = 2(2w) + 2w

42 = 4w + 2w

42 = 6w

7 = w

L = 2w

= 2(7)

= 14

Area = L · w

= 14 · 7

= 98
