If you know combinations and permutations, then the above formula will make sense.

Since this question is asking for all possible combinations, it's this formula if you don't know it:

n! / r! (n - r)!

n is the total number of things, which in this case are people. So, we get 7 and r is the set amount of the things used at a time which is 3... because out of 7 people only 3 can win gift cards.
