If we divide W(x) by (x-a) then the remainder is W(a)

W(x) = 2x³ - 5x - 7

x - a = x + 2 ⇒ a = -2

W(-2) = 2(-2)^3 - 5(-2) - 7 = 2(-8) + 10 - 7 = -16 + 3 = -13
