  1. No correlation. The size of tv doesn't affect how much time you spend in front of it. The smaller the tv, the more likely you'll sit closer to it so you can see what's going on.
  2. Positive correlation. The more you're in the sun, the worse the sunburn will be assuming you don't use any sunblock. If x is the time spent in the sun, and y is the severity of sunburn, then x and y go up together.
  3. No correlation. The type of beverage you drink isn't connected with intelligence.
  4. Positive correlation. The more people there are in the hallway, the more time it takes to get to class. It's similar to the second scenario above.
  5. Negative correlation. The faster you drive, the less time it takes to get to your destination. If x is the speed and y is the time, then x and y move in opposite directions (one goes up, the other goes down).
  6. No correlation. Eye color and height aren't linked.
  7. Negative correlation. If x is the temperature and y is the number of coats bought, then the two variables will move in opposite directions. This is similar to number 5 above.
