it should be 10 yards

Explanation:

its 10 yards because 148 minus 40 equals to 108 and if you multiply 12 times 10 you get 120, he'd have more than the 148, and with 8 yards 12 times 8 is 96 so 96 plus 40 does not 148 so it'd be 10 yards
