Question: 4y + 5= -19 but what is the answer for y? Can you simplify as much as possible please?

Answer:

y = -6

Stage 1: Subtract 5 from the two sides.

4y+5−5=−19−5

4y=−24

Stage 2: Split both sides by 4.


(4y)/(4) =
(-24)/(4)

y = -6

Solution = -6
