The larger of two numbers is 15 more than three times the smaller number. If the sum of two numbers is 63, find the numbers.

x = smaller number

3x + 15 = the larger number

x + 3x + 15 = 63

4x = 48

x = 12

3(12) + 15 = 51

so the smaller number is 12 and the larger number is 51
