Read the excerpt from The Diary of a Young Girl. Father finally came home around five o'clock, and we called Mr. Kleiman to ask if he could come by that evening. Mr. van Daan left and went to get Miep. Miep arrived and promised to return later that night, taking with her a bag full of shoes, dresses, jackets, underwear, and stockings. After that it was quiet in our apartment; none of us felt like eating. It was still hot, and everything was very strange. Which detail from the excerpt reflects the mood of uneasiness and anxiety? “Miep arrived and promised to return later that night” “we called Mr. Kleiman to ask if he could come by that evening” “Father finally came home around five o'clock” “It was still hot, and everything was very strange.”

Answer:

"It was still hot, and everything was very strange."

Step-by-step explanation:

If you read it out loud to yourself and think about it, using process of elimination this answer makes the most sense. "We called Mr. Kleiman to ask if he could come by that evening" is a not strange sentence and nothing about it is abnormal in any way. "Miep arrived and promised to return later that night." Is also not an abnormal sentence in any way, shape or form. As, this sentence could mean anything and it doesnt have to mean something suspenseful. "Father finally came home around five o'clock" Is finally, again, not anything strangely descriptive about it and in any sense could mean anything. "It was still hot, and everything was strange." Just sounds and fits right, dont you agree?
