They are saying that all men have rights. In those times cotton and tobacco were huge money makers and they needed slaves to tend the crops. And no, it was not fair. They created the “all men are created equal” for themselves but they did not even apply it to other people’s lives just to make money. By making this law it firmly stated were the upper United States sat on the issue of slavery and it created tension that contributed to the civil war. Hope this helps. Please Like this answer.
