2(k-3)+21=-3

We move all terms to the left:

2(k-3)+21-(-3)=0

We add all the numbers together, and all the variables

2(k-3)+24=0

We multiply parentheses

2k-6+24=0

We add all the numbers together, and all the variables

2k+18=0

We move all terms containing k to the left, all other terms to the right

2k=-18

k=-18/2

k=-9
