Melissa the trainer has two solo workout plans that she offers her clients: Plan A and Plan B. Each client does either one or the other (not both). On wednesday there were 5 clients who did Plan A and 3 who did Plan B. On thursday there were 7 clients who did Plan A and 9 who did Plan B. Melissa trained her wednesday clients for a total of 6 hours and her thursday clients for a total of 12 hours. How long does each of the workout plans last?

Answer:

A= .75 B= .75

Explanation:

Plug in .75. 5(.75) + 3(.75) = 6

7(.75) + 9(.75) = 12

You would turn a to x and b to y to get ---> 5x + 3y = 6 and 7x + 9y = 12 -----> then you would multiply the first equation ^^^^^ by 3 to cancel to give you 15x + 9y = 18 (I did that to get 9y and cancel out the 9y in the other equation) next do 15x + 9y = 18 - 7x + 9y = 12 to get ----> 8x = 6 ---> divide by 8 to get ---> x = .75

Hope this helped!!
