First, we would want to combine like terms. So, we should combine 7x and 3x by subtracting them.
7x + 14 - 3x = 30
4x + 14 = 30
Subtract 14 from both sides; whatever you do to the left you must do to the right
4x = 16
Divide by 4
x = 4
