The length of a rectangle is 14 cm more than the width. The perimeter is 156 cm. What is the length of the rectangle?

Length = w + 14

Perimeter = 156 cm

2*(length + width) = 156

2* (w +14 + w) = 156 {combine like terms}

2 *(2w + 14) = 156 {Divide both sides by 2}

2w + 14 = 156/2

2w + 14 = 78 {Subtract 14 from both sides}

2w + 14 - 14 = 78 -14

2w = 64 {Divide both sides by 2}

2w/2 = 64/2
