Why does a growing child needs more minerals

Explanation: a newborn child would need the most minerals because its constantly growing rather than a toddler or a kid rather, but the smaller the child the more minerals it needs in my belief.

Iron: children are at higher risk of iron deficiency than adults, mainly because children need more iron when they go through growth spurts
