Prompt: Discuss the 15th Amendment. Why was it controversial for the time period it was considered? What challenges existed to getting it added to the Constitution? Use evidence to support your claims.

The 15th amendment granting African-American men the right to vote was adopted in the U.S. Constitution in 1870 the legal means to challenge voting restrictions and vastly improved voter turnout.
