1. a whole steep is skiping a whole note for example C(DO) to D (RE) is a whole steep but a half step is just going to the note in between the whole step for example B(TI) to C(DO) is a half step because is no note in between them.

2. What's off is that "so" is actually spelled "sol"

1. If you look at the picture you can see that with each whole step there is a visible space but with the half steps, there is nearly no space and it has the "1/2" sign.
