The answer is 4 •sqrt{3}

First, break down 48 into all prime numbers:
48 = 2 • 2 • 2 • 2 • 3

Next, find the pairs in your numbers:
In this case, you have 2 • 2 • 2 • 2

Since you’re finding a square root (square root is of 2), take out half of the twos. This leaves you with 2•2 = 4

You’ve now accounted for all of the numbers except the square root of 3, which can’t be further simplified, so you can find your answer, which is:

sqrt{48} = 4 • sqrt{3}
