What is the difference between an element and a compound?

A. An element is a pure substance, a compound is a mixture.

im not completely sure but i did the process of elimination. it’s not B because an element is one type of atom. it’s not A because both elements and compounds are pure substances. and it’s not C because it’s not in mixed composition
