A birthday cake is divided equally between 9 people.

What fraction of the cake does each person have?

\ast Remember, a fraction looks like:-

\boxed{\frac{\xrightarrow{numerator}x}{\xrightarrow{denominator}{y}}}

Where:-

  • numerator -> number of parts taken
  • denominator -> total parts

In this case we divide a cake equally between 9 people, so we divide the cake into 9 parts, and each person gets a part of the cake.

So we have a fraction as follows:-

(?)/(9)

Now, each person gets 1 part. 1 becomes our numerator:-

(1)/(9)

i am pretty sure it is 1/9 because each person gets a piece of the cake and if there are 9 people there are 9 pieces.
