Answer:

Length = 14 cm

width = 7 cm

Explanation:

given:

rectangle

where L = 2W

W = W

Perimeter = 42 cm

find: Length of L

solution:

Perimeter or a rectangle = 2L + 2W

plugin the given values into the formula:

42 = 2(2W) + 2W

42 = 4W +2W

42 = 6W

W = 42/6

W = 7 cm (width of Rectangle)

solve L by using substituting W=7 in L = 2W

L = 2W

L = 2 (7)

L = 14 cm

therefore, the Length = 14 cm

width = 7 cm

Answer:

length = 14cm width = 7cm

Explanation:

length = 2x w (width)

if length = 2x width then

length must equal 4/6 and width must equal 2/6 because length is 2 times width.

42 divded by 6 = 7.

length gets four lots of 7.

length of both sides= 28cm

width gets 2 lots of 7.

width of both sides= 14cm

there are two sides for length and two sides for width.

Length x 2= 28cm

Length must equal 14cm.

Width x 2 = 14cm

Width must equal 7cm.

lets just prove this is true:

7+7=14.

14+ (14+14) =

14+ 28= 42cm.

this works.

the length is 14cm and the width is 7cm.
