Read the passage.

When I got to my cabin at camp, the other campers showered me with a chorus of greetings.

"I’m Alex,” the red-headed boy closest to me said.

"Javier,” called the boy with the glasses sitting next to him.

"Miguel,” waved the boy in the corner. He was sitting surrounded by a pile of comic books.

A fourth boy, taller than the rest, walked up and shook my hand. "I’m Asher. Grab a bunk.”

Why did the author most likely use dialogue instead of description?

Dialogue is another way to introduce a character. Maybe the author wanted to introduce the characters the way the same way the character met all four of the boys. Maybe to get an idea of the personality of each boy without using a paragraph to explain who they were. Hope this helped!
