I really need help with this now. "Which groups of people were at the top, in the middle and on the bottom of the social hierarchy in the Spanish colonies? What did this hierarchy reflect?"

In the spanish hierarchy, the people are the top were the peninsulares, these were people from Spain who went to the colonies to take charge of the highest political positions.

Next, were the criollos, people of Spanish descent born in the Americas. They occupied the rest of political positions.

After them, came the mestizos, people of mixed Spanish and Native American descent.

Finally, at the bottom were the Native Americans and the African Americans, who were subjected to what was essentially slave labor.

This hierarchy reflected a society that was stratified on racial basis. The whiter, and more Spanish you were, the higher your position in society. The opposite occured if you were black of Indigenous.
