This can be seen in the United States, where there are millions of people who lack medical insurance.
The lack of services can generate intergenerational inequality.
For example, if a poor person cannot enter formal education, his income is likely to be to low to afford formal education for his or her children.
Specific groups of people can become less visible.
For example, if a particular group of immigrants lack access to basic services, they may become less relevant in the public sphere.
This general inequality can create social disruption
, and lead to negative feelings or consequences like racism or general discrimination.
