A laser bean anchored in a wall originates 4 feet from the ground and is aimed at a mirror on the floor 6 feet from the wall. The laser beam reflects off the mirror and hits the opposite wall where a target is placed at (19.5, 9). Write and absolute value equation to model the path of the laser beam. Use your equation to determine if the laser hits the target. Let b = 1.

Answer:

y=2/3|x-6|

the laser will hit the target

Explanation:

vertex= (6, 0)

point= (0, 4)

y=a|x-6|

4=a|0-6|

4=a|-6|

4=a|6|

4=6a

a=4/6

a=2/3

Final Equation

y=2/3|x-6|

plug it into a graphing calculator like desmos and you will see that it touches all the points and it works.
