When adding and subtracting fractions we need to create a common denominator. To do this we have to make the denominator the same by using the GCF and then multiplying the numerator by how much you multiplied the denominator.

1/9 + 2/3 - 2/9

1/9 + 2/3

2/3

3 * 3 = 9

2 * 3 = 6

1/9 + 6/9

Now that we have our equation set up, add the numerators together, and keep the denominator the same.

1/9 + 6/9 = 7/9

Now we can plug in our last number.

7/9 - 2/9

These numbers already have a common denominator, so we can skip the part we did last time and just go ahead and subtract these from eachother.

7/9 - 2/9 = 5/9

And that is our solution
